John Schisler is an award-winning painter living in Georgetown, Delaware. John’s style is Classical to Contemporary Realism. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1972. At the age of 17, he began painting at the Conrad Miller Studio in Fells Point, Maryland. He studied the use of Maroger Mediums and techniques of the Dutch Masters with instructors, Nancy Lee Conrad and Melvin Miller, who were both students of Jacques Maroger. John learned to make and use ‘black oil’, which he mixes with powdered pigments to create his oil paints. This technique was used by old masters such as Titian, Rubens, and Rembrandt. In early 2011, he began to pursue a full-time career in art and teaches in his home studio.
John’s paintings have been juried in to many local and national exhibitions including Oil Painters of America, National Oil & Acrylic Painter’s Society, and International Guild of Realism. He is also a signature member of the National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society.
