Metamorphosis

The Emergence of Joy

Works by Tara Funk Grim

July 2 - 30, 2022

We are pleased to welcome the Southern Delaware abstract artist, Tara Funk Grim, to our exhibition space for the first time. Tara is a well-known artist living between Ocean View, DE and Naples, FL. She has exhibited widely and has received many awards. Tara has made a name for herself with big, bold, and colorful paintings that conjure up feelings of magical spontaneity, chance, and greater opportunities.

All these attributes will be on display in Tara’s solo show, “Metamorphosis: The Emergence of Joy,” at our gallery this July.

“Tara is an exciting and unique artist that brings a wide range of talent and craft to each piece. We’re thrilled to have her exhibiting in our exhibition space,” says Tony Boyd- Heron, co-owner and exhibitions director at the gallery.

Tara Funk Grim began her career winning poster contests and painting on Atlantic City boardwalk storefronts. She continued her education with a BA from Chestnut Hill College and teacher certification from Kutztown University. She is a signature member of the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. Her work has been featured in several publications, including 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic, AcrylicWorks2: Radical Breakthroughs and AcrylicWorks3: Creating Texture, and Art Journey Animals: A collection of Inspiring Contemporary Masterworks.

“Metamorphosis” stays true to Tara’s love for color, as the bright hues from each work radiate off the gallery walls. Abstract in style, Tara’s pieces depict a variety of outdoor scenes, from fields of flowers and sun-drenched hilltops to calm waterways and lively boating days. One thing all these images capture is a pure joy that bright colors and stunning landscapes can evoke.

Tara says about her work, “The seemingly infinite choices on my palette continue to feed my mind, body, and soul. My work is always pushing ahead, going beyond where I am comfortable and in the knowing. There are no boundaries or restrictions, and the possibilities are endless. It is the realm of intuition, imagination, and pure creation. Color is the tool I use to break down these boundaries, to move beyond my comfort zone.”
