Artist Statement

"My inspiration comes from the desire to convey good design and draftsmanship. I find that soft pastels allow me to draw and paint simultaneously. For several years my subject matter has been the human form. I prefer placing the figure in an environment and to work in a series in order to develop one idea more completely.

I draw to discover anew the elements that resonate from the carefully designed and composed plan developed for the next painting. This action explores and confirms my initial interest in the forms. I look for unification in straight lines, arabesques, and enclosures."
