Roger Dellar

Roger Dellar is a professional artist, who works from his home studio in Surrey, England. He visits the United States frequently and the Peninsula Gallery is his only American venue. Roger’s art reflects his keen interest in people and their behavior and the way the play of light transforms a subject. His work is usually done plein air. His paintings depict people in everyday situations. He captures public spaces captured in an instantly recognizable moment. Chefs, diners, bar patrons, and dancers often show up in his work. He is equally well known as a teacher of art. He has instructed at the Rehoboth Art League and hosts periodic workshops in Lewes. Roger is a member of The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, The Pastel Society, and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.

Since 1996 has been an active member of The Wapping Group, an invitation-only group of 25 artists who capture the views of life along the Themes River in England. Roger has won numerous awards for his painting including: The Bath Prize Best Oil

Painting and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters’ Le Clerc Fowler Medal in 2010, the Pastel Society’s Unison Pastel Award, The Pastel Society’s Anthony J Lester Arts Critic Award, and the Pastel Society’s The Arts Club Award in 2011. In July 2011, he received an honorable mention for work as part of the Easton, MD Plein Air Competition.
