Larry Ringgold

Larry Ringgold was born and raised on the Chesapeake Bay. He grew up crabbing and fishing with local watermen and has always felt a connection to the bay. Larry was a carpentry teacher for 33 years and has been a woodworker for over 42 years. Using driftwood collected from the isolated Maryland beaches near his home, he creates figures, both mythical and real, that suggest anatomical features and highlight the unique beauty of the wood. Larry states, “Art should be an alliance of creativity and craftsmanship. I strive to give life and personality to my work.” His sculptures are treated to live indoors or outdoors.
