Hanna MacNaughtan

Hanna MacNaughtan is an artist from a village in South Eastern Ontario Canada. She is originally from a small town in western New York state.  Marriage brought her to Ontario Canada where she and her husband settled down and raised their children.

She has been creating art in one form or another for as long as she can remember. Her artwork is focused on large, abstract and impressionistic paintings on canvas. Hanna loves working with acrylics and various mediums to achieve desired textured effects. Her main inspiration comes from movement and reflections on water; as well as the colours, textures, and sounds of nature. Additionally, twenty years of work as a Registered Nurse with oncology patients have had a significant ethereal effect on her creative process.

Hanna has exhibited her work for many years in solo, and group juried exhibits, in and around Toronto, Ottawa, and Brockville Ontario, and has won numerous awards. Most recently, her painting “Waterfront” was selected for publication in North Light Books’  AcrylicWorks 6 ~ Creative Energy!  Hanna’s paintings can be found in many private and corporate collections in Canada and the USA.

Artist Statement

“My goal is to move away from the familiar imagery of nature and create a unique visual presentation that acts as a portal for the viewer to enter and embrace their own emotions, experiences, and dreams.”

"I have always enjoyed being outdoors with nature.  I live along a small branch of the Rideau River in North Grenville Ontario Canada.  This quiet little waterway provides me with an infinite amount of inspiration.  Wildflowers, birds of all types, deer, beavers, otters, turtles and much more live along this gentle river. The view is always changing from season to season and I never tire of going out on the water in my canoe or kayak to explore nature."
