After forty years in the legal profession in Washington D.C., Brook Hedge retired to Lewes, Delaware, and pursued one of her major life passions, photography.
Through the years, she has studied photography with different professionals and has exhibited in a number of juried shows, including the 1992 11th Washington D.C. Area Wide Amateur Photography Exhibition; the 2010 joint show held by Packard-Reath Gallery in Lewes and Gallery 50 in Rehoboth; in numerous juried shows held by the Rehoboth Art League, as well as, in exhibitions at the Biggs Museum in Dover, each of which encompassed works from seven states. Her work, “Reflection” received critical acclaim in The Coastal Camera Club Juried Exhibition and the photograph won the William Horn Award for best photograph in the 78th Annual Rehoboth Art League Members Fine Art Exhibition. She won the William Horn Award again for "Once Was" in 2020.
Her work was juried into the Biennial Exhibitions held in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020 at the Rehoboth Art League where she has won an Award of Excellence and Honorary Mention. The show draws artists in all mediums from seven states. She also has exhibited at the South x Southeast Gallery in Georgia in a show juried by Elizabeth Avedon. In 2019, she had her first solo show “Awakenings” at Peninsula Gallery and, in 2020, she had a joint exhibition with the late-Richard Calvo in a retrospective of his works.
