“Between Two Shores”

Meg Nottingham Walsh and Bernard Dellario Paint Scenes From the Chesapeake to Delaware Bays

September 4 - 26, 2021

Bernard Dellario and Meg Nottingham Walsh paint scenes from the Chesapeake and Delaware bays for our next exhibition “Between Two Shores.” Showing throughout September, this two-artist collection features images depicting the rural and aquatic scenery within the Delmarva region.

“Between Two Shores” takes Dellario’s and Walsh’s unique Plein Air styles to create a vibrant interpretation of the palette, form, and light seen across the bay regions. Dellario’s use of expressive strokes and textural gestures give each work its own impressionistic, fluid feel. While Walsh employs a more structural and shape-oriented technique to capture the naturalistic elements of her subjects. Although minimalistic in presentation, both Dellario and Walsh’s works pack a powerful punch with their layers of colors and visual depths.

Bernard Dellario earned a bachelor's degree from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA with an emphasis on finance and art history. He studied art at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia and attended several workshops with nationally known artists.  He has been a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters since 2003, which he currently serves as President. He teaches painting classes through several venues, has won national awards and exhibits throughout the Maryland Eastern Shore and Washington, DC regions.

Known for landscapes drenched in light and color, Meg Nottingham Walsh has garnered numerous awards at juried exhibitions and national Plein Air competitions. Though realistic in nature, her painting contains a strong abstract element, characterized by simplified shapes, limited values, and glowing color. Meg’s work has been purchased by the Academy Museum, the National Institute of Health, Georgetown University Hospital, and Martha Jefferson Hospital. She is a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association, and the Salmagundi Club in New York. Her paintings are featured in the book 100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic.
