Austin Dwyer

Austin Dwyer was born in Tipperary, Ireland, and ventured to America in 1957. Within a few months, he joined the USAF. After discharge, he graduated with an art degree from the Burnley School of Professional Art in Seattle and was accepted to serve on the faculty. He also taught at the Seattle Art Institute. Besides being an artist and teacher, Austin is a published author and musician, having graduated from the Municipal School of Music in Dublin.

 

He is a Senior Fellow with the Pacific Rim Institute of Marine Artists and a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists. He is also a fellow with The Puget Sound Group of Northwest Painters. After retiring from Burnley and the Seattle Art Institute, he founded an Advertising and Marketing firm in Seattle with his partner Dale Cohen where he served as creative director and senior illustrator. His recent book, "Tugboats to Remember,” has just been published by Austin Macauley Publishers in New York. He is currently working on two new books — "An Anthology of Short Irish Stories" and a sequel to his first book, ”The Ring of the

Piper’s Tune.” He is well known for his wartime paintings in England, Ireland, and the United States.
