November 2009 Exhibit
D is for Delaware –
an alphabetical journey through the first State.
2009 represented a dual
milestone in Andrew Criss’ life: 10 years working as a professional artist and
10 years living in Delaware. To
celebrate he decided to spend a year exploring the state.
Armed with the Delaware Gazetteer’s listing of cities, towns and
populated places he tried to find locations starting with every letter of the
alphabet. His greatest challenge
was X. He compromised with
Reeve’s X-ing, but viewers will see that this choice worked out very well!
For all locations Andrew chose
only naturalistic views, not urban scenes.
His goal being to remind us all of the beauty of the state that he had so
much fun exploring.
Andrew has had all the images,
along with a descriptive text, made in to a hard cover book.
He will be signing copies of the book at the opening reception in the
gallery on Saturday, November 7, from 5 – 7 pm.
